DISPATCH from a self-proclaimed candle expert: the candles that are and are NOT worth your hard-earned money, from Diptyque-level luxury to Amazon steals.
Congratulations on your transition! Transitions are always hard but I hope this one brings you great joy in the long run (or immediate future!)
I love Trader Joes candles! A lot of their candles says soy or soy and coconut blends, but I also know that there's no regulation around the ingredients for these candles how do you know if the label is accurate or not?
you kind of have to just trust. the tricky thing about trader joe’s is we have no idea where they source their candles. i tried doing some research prior to writing - i had a weird hunch they may use a spot in familiar with on the east coast because of the packaging - but not confirmed. I think the best thing to do if you’re sensitive to certain blends or paraffin etc is to go maker-made all the way like a Keap or a Old Whaling Co where there’s more transparency into the production process versus shopping a mass brand or corporation. and TYSM for the kind words on the transition. im enjoying the calmer pace so far for sure 🖤
Thanks Ali, I loved this newsletter about the candles. I too am obsessed & have a few of my own favs.

A) Brilliant way to show your expertise on candles
B) Sending you hugs on this career transition. I know you’re already dealing with a lot so just remember you’re a bad bitch who’s scrappy AF. 🫶🏽
C) I’m so glad we, as a society, have embraced the term Menty B. It’s truly the best way to add humor to a melt down.
